Normally typing up reports was an easy task for Deputy Danes, a little monotonous sure, but nothing too strenuous. Today, however, Danes sat uncomfortably in his chair, anxiously awaiting… something.
“Wanna try something fun, Mr. Danes?”
The deep cadence of his voice, the playfulness of his eyes, it echoed in Danes’ subconscious as he shifted nervously in his seat. He wasn’t sure if it was the magic or if the kid had natural charm but he couldn’t resist. He had said yes. He had actually agreed to this.
“Mr. Danes! You’ll never guess what happened!”
Danes tensed immediately at his voice and remained in this rigid state as Miko walked in. Was it going to happen right now? He glanced at the door, wondering if he should close it. Maybe he should ask him to wait, maybe they should go for a walk instead, maybe he should change his mind right now. But as Miko walked in, confident and carefree, Danes couldn’t deny his desire for this game they were playing.
