The wind rustled the fur of the large black wolf as he howled out across the field. Next to him, the energetic young fox struggled to stay still. His paws desperate for the feel of the dirt flying from beneath his paws as he ran, for the wind to be wiping past him… and then the wolf’s call ended. He growled playfully and they were off. The race began as the wolf lunged forward, his long legs carrying him farther than the fox could hope, but the fox was swift and quick on his feet. He caught up in no time and was skirting between the wolf’s feet as they ran, yapping happily as they chased each other through the field in the warm Spring sun.

“I still don’t understand why we’re wearing these sweaters.” Derek grumbled, staring down at where Stiles’ fox hand clasped Derek’s false paw. “I’m already a wolf and why are you-“

“Because I had a dream and we’re adorable. Shut up and go with it.” Stiles chastised, smiling as he walked hand in hand with Derek down the hallway to the living room. He loved the idea of being a fox, not that he would want to be anything other than human but maybe he could work his magic when he was powerful enough to do a bit of shapeshifting.

“Also, why are we holding hands? That’s another thing that doesn’t quite make sense.”

Lydia snickered as the two costumed individuals walked into the room, winking her approval at Stiles. Jackson scoffed and rolled his eyes, to which Stiles stuck his tongue out in response. Not the most mature response but he was allowed to be a sweet, little fox right now.

“Aww you two are so cute.” Allison chimed from Scott’s lap.

“Gaaay.” Scott smirked.

Stiles grinned up at Derek, squeezing his hand tighter in his own. They’d been skirting around their growing intimacy for weeks and this was one way to throw it in Derek’s face that they were more than just friends. “Because that.”
