Stiles put the wildlife down.
A warm, sunny day and a trip to the beach was exactly what Stiles and Derek needed. The only problem was getting there. They had tried to keep it a secret from the pack but as Derek hopped into Stiles’ loaded up jeep, Isaac and Scott decided it would be the perfect opportunity to saunter back to Derek’s apartment.
“Do I smell Stiles sandwiches and watermelon?”
“Stiles’ sandwiches?” Isaac raised his brow questioningly at Scott as his boyfriend sniffed around Stiles’ jeep to locate the cooler Stiles had packed in the back under the beach blanket.
“Stiles sandwiches are the best-” He had reached for the container but Stiles was already leaning over the seat to swat his hand away.
Shh. Let me live in my happy world.
Stiles jumped up from the bed, sweaty and grumpy and more than a little panicked. It had been years since the alpha pack, since the darach, since overwhelming amount of deaths and tragedies that Beacon Hills never fully recovered from. Stiles didn’t recover either, not nearly enough judging by the dreams that still plagued him.
Except in his dreams, everything happened all at once, all on the same night. Lydia being bitten and left for dead, Matt and the kenama, having to chain Scott up, Erica’s death, the night they thought Derek died, Scott attempting suicide, Boyd’s death… everything all at once. And every time Stiles handled things. Took the flare away from Scott, carried Lydia to the emergency room, lured Isaac from under the bed, he always came back to one moment. The moment he opened the door that Ethan directed him to. “We believe Derek’s alive. He’s locked himself up in there.” And Stiles would follow the point of his finger.

He was silent, watching the alpha from a distance. It had taken him ages to find him in the rain after everything that had happened between them. Derek panicked, took off and Stiles went crazy searching for him - full on straight into detective mode, calling everyone they knew, pleading with Scott to play police dog and sniff him down but that had been too difficult when the rain picked up.
It had taken him five hours, Stiles was soaked to the bones, and he was angry. At least he was angry. Had been. Past tense. That all changed when he saw Derek sitting in front of the large windows, legs pulled close to his chest with his arms wrapped securely around them. He was staring out at the sky, watching as the rain pelted the glass, eyes thoughtful and expression unreadable.
All of Stiles’ anger, his rage, his uncontrollable urge to swat Derek on the nose with a rolled up newspaper evaporated.
“Are you kidding me?” Were Stiles first words and he saw how they made Derek’s shoulders tense in surprise but the alpha did not move other than that. He didn’t turn around or acknowledge Stiles. He was probably afraid of saying something that would make matters worse.
“I find you like this.” The smallest movement… Derek ducking his head, gaze averting from the sky down to the muddy and wet ground outside. Stiles stepped closer, rolling his eyes, “Jeez, what if the hipsters find you and take you away, claiming you as their own? Do you know where that would leave me? In skinny jeans because I’d have to infiltrate their cult in order to sneak you out. Do you know how bad I look in skinny jeans?”
Can I just say ur freakin awesome, like a lot, and I literally wanna blow all ur sterek drawings up on shirts and hoodies and wear them everywhere! Cause it that awesome to me haha
