Where did Squirrelinski go

Hey! You answered a ? that showed up on my dash and I was wondering if you wouldnt mind giving me some tips for PS? I got ps3 and honestly, I worked with PS in high school and completely forgot... everything. I've been using it since mid-dec but I'm picking up on stuff kinda slow. Any life-hack tips to making my endeavors a little more manage-able? I'm interested in manga art kind of stuff

I learned more about Photoshop 2 years ago(as well as used it regularly), but since then, I’ve just used it for basic editing. I’m not as familiar as i use to be.

But manga? For something like Screen tone effects, I would just use the magic wand(or the selection tool), and fill or use textured brushes.image

The selection tool really hates me, or i was doing it wrong so i ended up doing it the hard way. I made a new layer and used the brush tool so the magic wand could actually pick up the correct area.

Select it with the magic wand tool. make sure ‘contiguous’ and 'sample all layers’ is deselected. once the correct area is selected, you can color it in. play with the brushes. 80 percent of the time spent on this drawing is looking for certain brushes.

Repeat. Play around. wow I never do this sort of thing, so my advise is horrible. why did i do this. you should ask someone else im so sorry

Add some finishing touches. because manga.

PERFECT.

I’m so sorry. I’m not at all skilled with ps. My method on anything is 'attempt’. If anything, i made it worse cause i didn’t even follow my own directions. The unfollow button is on the upper right of my blog.

Do you know the difference between using photoshop and pts to draw?
Asked by regorasu-blog

Usually, it’s preference. Though i personally like paint tool Sai because it’s specially made for digital drawing. I feel Photoshop is best for picture editing(In that case sometimes i use both to complete my drawings). The only Photoshop i have ever drawn with is Photoshop elements 9. Which isn’t the full experience, but is definitely .different than Sai. Both good and bad. Photoshop for me, comes with convenience, while Sai is accessibility.

Photoshop has features i wish Sai had, but I it’s harder to get the hang of. Since drawing isn’t Photoshop’s main feature, The brushes and stuff are tucked in with all of the many things Photoshop is supposed to do. Things like brush customization is harder to change than Sai which is right out in the open.

A while ago, i had used Ps for all my drawings. I found that it had some nice tools like gradient,  and more helpful things when drawing. After you locate everything, it may come easier than sai. But you may find Sai easier than Ps??

Seriously, all about preference. I hoped this helped! :‘O

Cerberus Derek, Satyr Stiles.

A lot of your characters look the same, don't get me wrong I absolutely love them! But after following you for awhile, I noticed that all the males generally all have similar faces. D:

Definitely trying to work on facial structure, and feature diversity.

I’m not so good with details at all. Every drawing no matter what it is is practice for me. These days i’m trying to find a suitable style for myself so i can start working from there. Turns out, there’s a lot i neglect. What you don’t see is, i do actually try improving certain parts of my drawings. They don’t turn out so well 90% of the time, and they end up trashed. You should see me in school; my head is in my hands half the time.

Studying features of real people are a problem too. My style is far from realistic. So choosing which parts of the face to exaggerate just is a lot to learn. Half of me wants to keep a simple non detailed drawing, but the other part is trying to improve and change.
